Unusual, astonishing, funny, thought-provoking and poignant, the story is based on contemporary writings, letters and diary entries. This time, the life story of our nation’s great poet is presented in an unusual way, not at all textbook-like, and we get to know a completely different Arany János, not just the big mustache and kindly figure whose face is seen in books. There is no pathos in the performance, but it is full of youthful verve, humorous allusions and references, and it is surprisingly topical. It could not be otherwise, since it is about a time when Hungarian culture and Hungarian-language theatre fought for its existence with blood and sweat. In addition to Arany, famous and not so famous figures of the time appear in the play, and of course Petőfi Sándor plays an important role, whose attention was attracted by the narrative poem Toldi, written by the notary from Nagyszalonta.

Based on accounts, letters, and dairy entries of the time, through the life story of Arany János, the play strives to bring the mentality of the time’s great figures closer to the man of our times. By presenting us the human relationships of the Hungarian Reform Era and evoking the beliefs connected to the events of March 15, 1848, the production tries to unravel the connection between our lives today and the ideals of the 19th Century.
Petőfi's letter to Arany, 15 November 1848:
"My dear Djanko! Ay yem here leaving Debrecen, our battalion is went to Becskerek the day after tomorrow, and I am gone to Erdőd with Úrláb by January. So there be you to me scribbling even much. Honouring end kissing your familia and your person, I am here your friend."
