Ivanov, who a few years ago still worked with all his energy and looked forward to the future with all his faith, finds himself at the age of thirty-five struggling apathetically and losing his zest for life. He tries to discover the cause of his permanent depression and to turn back to his old, lively self. This once audacious and successful man is tormented by selfdisgust and suffering from a never ending remorse. Can a new love restore Ivanov’s lost innocence? Is it possible to begin a new life with a clean slate and to wipe out the past?
