Some may say that there is too much cruelty in Martin McDonagh's play, The Cripple of Inishmaan, but I believe that there is also a lot of love in this cruelty. It is a dark comedy because it shows us a world at the end of the world, where survival is the main goal and sentimentality is a weakness. The overlap of cruelty and love is also where the humor comes from. It is an Irish world, but also a Romanian one, where people do what they know best: make fun of their misfortunes.
