Hanoch Levin’s play contains a splendid simplicity, wisdom and humanity and is extraordinarily humorous, with a poetic beauty.
We are presented with the everyday life of a small community, a few families, and several generations, children, parents, and grandparents who all long for love and romance, or just a different life, posing as someone else in a different place, in a different time.
The genre of Suitcase Packers is “comedy in eight funerals”, but every sentence of it bears the mark of an incredible love of life.
The music for Suitcase Packers was composed by Péter Furák; this is his first independent musical piece. Alex Hunyadi assisted him in creating a special world of sounds and sound effects. Several new, young artists participated in creating the performance and this was the first time they worked together with our company. In creating the theatrical scenes, stage designers Juli Balázs and Lőrinc Boros and the remarkable costume designer Fruzsina Nagy played an outstanding role.
