Florica Ichim, a remarkable figure of the Romanian theatre, a critic, book editor and a great friend of the Hungarian Theatre of Cluj, has passed away.
We bid farewell to her with the words of Vetuța Pop:
"Florica Ichim died today, on a Sunday. A remarkable theatre critic, an eminent book editor. Her energy, inexhaustible verve, diligence and intelligence, sometimes excessive sincerity, will remain proverbial. She was like a volcano... She loved and encouraged young people in whom she glimpsed intelligence, talent and civic duty. She was a friend such as one rarely meets in life. Generous. Selfless. VERTICAL. Kind. That's how good people die... On a Sunday...
We'll always miss her...
Let us think of her with love, let us remember her name every time we hold in our hands one of the more than one hundred books she has written, edited or supported and the hundreds of Teatrul Azi magazines she has given us with her passion and enthusiasm. While we're still around...
It's hard to say goodbye to a friend. It's really hard...
What do you say to her, who was always active and restless: Rest in peace. Pious thought, peaceful sleep? Oh, no...
What do you tell her then, at this temporary parting? Perhaps we should delude ourselves with the hope that, since we have become accustomed to the virtual environment, Florica will continue to send us, promptly, books, magazines, signs...? Should we hope that she will see her friends Vlad Mugur and Ion Caramitru again? I think that from there... from the universe to which she has gone, Florica smiles and comments inevitably... As she done so often... As always..."
Farewell towards the Heavens!
