On Tuesday, March 10, the Romanian Association of Theatre (UNITER) published the list of nominees for the UNITER Award for productions mounted in 2008. The Hungarian Theatre of Cluj received 7 nominations out of 9 possible categories for Three Sisters, directed by Gábor Tompa, which opened in September.

for Best Performance – A.P. Chekhov: Three Sisters
for Best Director – Gábor Tompa, Head of Directing at the Theatre and Dance Department of the University of California, San Diego
for Best Stage-designer – Andrei Both, Head of Design at the Theatre and Dance Department of the University of California, San Diego
for Best Lead Actor – Zsolt Bogdán in the role of Vershinin
for Best Lead Actress – Imola Kézdi in the role of Masha
for Best Actor in a Supporting Role – András Hazházi in the role of Andrey
for Best Actress in a Supporting Role – Tünde Skovrán in the role of Natasha
The members of the nominating jury are drama critics Magdalena Boiangiu, Victor Scoradeţ and Ionuţ Sociu. The awarding of the XVIIth UNITER prizes will take place on April 13 in the great hall of the I.L. Caragiale National Theatre, Bucharest.
