Adaptation based on Angi Máté's novel Mamó, by Kornélia Góli and Kinga Mezei

Angi Máté’s Mamó is like a piece of old lace. It’s a confession that consists of scraps of memory, the self-confession of an orphan child. It’s a puzzle made up of pieces of destinies that touch each other accidentally. It’s like a series of old photographs. It’s a long monologue that revives the determining characters of childhood, its places, colours, smells, emotions and hurts through the eyes of a desolate child whose poor, grey days are woven into lace by her imagination. Her naïve and unusual expressions counterpoint the gloominess of the story, Mamó’s gauntness, the daily difficulties. With this charm she pushes herself with her little head forward into the world, wanting to belong to somebody, because she is, in fact, all alone.
