232 years of Hungarian-language theatre in Cluj!

On December 17, 1792, the predecessor of the Hungarian Theatre of Cluj, the National Dramatic Society, began its activities with the performance of The Secret Opposition or Köleséri in the Rhédey Palace. This was the beginning of a continuous Hungarian theatrical life in Cluj. Since then, our institution has been a key pillar of Transylvanian Hungarian culture, enriching the lives of its audiences for more than two centuries and becoming a recognised figure on the national and international theatre scene.

For those who are interested in theatre history, we recommend the National Museum and Institute of Theatre History of Budapest exhibition of Noble Traces. The Theatre on Kogalniceanu street in Cluj. The exhibition was opened on the occasion of this year's Interferences Festival and is still on display in the theatre's upstairs lobby before performances.

Happy birthday!
