The 9th edition of the Interferences International Theatre Festival has ended

On Sunday, November 17, the 9th edition of the Interferences International Theatre Festival came to an end in Cluj with the production of The Master and Margarita directed by Nona Ciobanu and presented by the Slovenian National Theatre in Nova Gorica. This year's international festival the theme of which was 35 years since the regime change, took place between November 3 and 17.

During the fifteen days of the event, festival audiences were able to see performances by fifteen companies. This year's festival featured stagings by such renowned directors as Sebestyén Aba, Oana Pellea, Ivan Dobcsev, Carmen Lidia Vidu, Josef Nadj, Gábor Tompa, Mihai Măniuțiu, Attila Egerházi, Nona Ciobanu, Gábor Rusznyák, Chris Simion-Mercurian, Nataša Radulović, Sardar Tagirovsky and Attila Vidnyánszky Jr.

The theatrical productions featured in the festival proved very popular among Cluj audiences. Of all the studio performances, tickets sold out almost instantly for Chris Simion-Mercurian's staging of Someone Is Going to Come, Nataša Radulović's direction of The Loser, and the Miskolc National Theatre's Wild Duck (dir. Gábor Rusznyák).

Among the main stage productions, the most popular were the Vígszínház's The One Who Has Nobody Under the Blue Skies and the Slovenian National Theatre in Nova Gorica's The Master and Margarita, followed closely by Oana Pellea's one-woman show The Silent Escape and Josef Nadj's dance performance entitled Full Moon.

The complementary events, such as book launches, talks and exhibitions, also attracted a large number of visitors.

The festival is co-organised by the Corvineum Foundation, with the support of the Ministry of Culture, the Government of Hungary and the Bethlen Gábor Fund, as well as the Cluj-Napoca Mayoral Office and City Council.
