The highly popular production of Édes Anna, adapted from Dezső Kosztolányi's classic novel and directed by István Szabó K., will be performed at the XV Deska Festival, celebrating contemporary Hungarian drama. The novel was adapted for the Cluj stage by dramaturg Ildikó Lőkös and István Szabó K. The production will be performed on Sunday, May 12, at 6 pm in the Kóti Árpád Hall of the Csokonai Forum.

The jubilee edition of the festival will host 31 performances in eight venues over the span of ten days between May 9 and 18. The festival will also feature music, film screenings and talks. This year, companies from all over the country have been invited to Debrecen to celebrate contemporary Hungarian drama, but companies from beyond Hungary will also be represented at the prestigious event.

"It is no coincidence that István Szabó K. said that "Édes Anna is a novel that demands a stage". The problem of inequality is not something we should ignore today. The adaptation of Édes Anna by Ildikó Lőkös and István Szabó K. Szabó makes us understand without any pretence that our society is built on exploitation. We exploit others in our own way, while others exploit us." - writes Péter Kovács Újszászy in Irodalmi Jelen about the production.

The title role of Édes Anna is portrayed by Eszter Román, with Andrea Kali, Zsolt Bogdán, Tamás Kiss, Ferenc Sinkó, József Bíró, Réka Csutak, Áron Dimény, Gizella Kicsid, Attila Orbán, Andrea Vindis, Csilla Albert, Csilla Varga, Melinda Kántor and Zsuzsa Tőtszegi playing additional roles.

Ildikó Lőkös, dramaturg, Artūras Šimonis, set designer, Bianca Imelda Jeremias, costume designer and Tibor Cári, composer, were the director's collaborators in creating the production.

Tickets for the Debrecen performance of Édes Anna are already sold out, while tickets for the next Cluj performances of the production can be purchased at the theatre's box office (weekdays between 10 am and 2 pm) and online at huntheater.biletmaster.ro.
