FEAR / HOPE - TICKETS ARE ON SALE FOR THE PERFORMANCES OF THE 8TH INTERFERENCES INTERNATIONAL THEATRE FESTIVAL

The program of the biennial Interferences International Theatre Festival organized by the Hungarian Theatre of Cluj is now available. Fourteen companies from nine countries will be invited to Cluj-Napoca for the eighth edition of the festival, which will take place between November 17-27. This year's edition is entitled Fear / Hope.

The eleven-day festival, with its performances and complementary programs, aims to initiate a dialogue reflecting on the events and life experiences that have upended our world and our daily lives over the past two years, through the performances of major artists and companies in contemporary world theatre.

During the eleven days of the event, Cluj audiences can enjoy performances by renowned international and local artists such as Christoph Marthaler, Heiner Goebbels, József Nagy, Silviu Purcărete, Andrei Șerban, Attila Vidnyánszky, Gábor Tompa, András Urbán, Jihye Park, Attila Vidnyánszky Jr., Diana Mititelu, and Catinca Drăgănescu.

One of the most important directors of our time, Swiss director Christoph Marthaler, will be coming to Cluj-Napoca for the first time: his production of Aucune Idée at Théâtre Vidy-Lausanne will be shown twice in the theatre's Main Hall. Also attending Interferences for the first time is the Parisian Odéon - Théâtre de l'Europe, presenting a production of Time for Joy by Stéphane Braunschweig, the theatre's artistic director. Returning for the fourth time will be Jaram Lee from South Korea, who is very popular in Cluj-Napoca, this time performing a Pansori version of The Old Man and the Sea. Heiner Goebbels, who last took part in the 2012 edition of Interferences with Max Black, will be back this year with a concert-theatre performance of Freedom of Action at the 8th edition of the Interferences Festival.

The program will be complemented this year by daily talks with invited artists, exhibition openings, book launches, film screenings and concerts at TIFF House. A detailed program of performances can be found on the theatre's website, and more information on performances and accompanying events will be available soon at www.interferences-huntheater.ro.

The festival is co-organised by the Corvineum Foundation, with the support of the Ministry of Culture, the Government of Hungary and the Bethlen Gábor Fund, as well as the Cluj-Napoca City Hall and the City Council. The event is supported by the European Theatre Union, the Romanian Cultural Institute, the Cluj County Council, the Communitas Foundation, the Office for Interethnic Relations. Its main partners are TIFF House, Transit House, The Romanian National Opera Cluj-Napoca, and UNITER.

Tickets for the performances included in the festival program are now available for purchase online at www.biletmaster.ro and at the theatre's ticket office.
