THE ROMANIAN ARTISTS FOR UKRAINIAN ARTISTS CAMPAIGN

The Romanian Theatre Union, in partnership with the Worldwide Reading Project and CITD (The Center for International Theatre Development) in Baltimore, initiates the Romanian Artists for Ukrainian Artists Humanitarian Campaign, a fundraising project that will run from 16 May to 15 June, 2022.

Following UNITER's proposal, 46 state and independent cultural institutions have responded favourably to the call to work together through theatre to preserve the dignity of artists and support Ukrainian culture. And new ways to get involved keep pouring in!

We were delighted and openly welcomed colleagues from the Republic of Moldova to join us in this heartfelt endeavour.

From 16 May to 15 June, cultural institutions in Romania and the Republic of Moldova will organise reading performances based on 10 texts written by Ukrainian authors after the outbreak of the war in Ukraine (Andrii Bondarenko, Elena Astasieva, Igor Bilit, Irina Garet, Liudmila Tymoshenko, Maxim Kurochkin, Natalia Blok, Natalia Vorokhbit, Oksana Savchenko, Tetiana Kitsenko), translated by Ralucă Rădulescu, or will programme performances from their own repertoire, donating the proceeds to the effort. The stakes are the same: financial support for Ukrainian artists going through terrible times.

The money raised from ticket sales, donations and sponsorships can be transferred to the special account opened by the UNITER Association.

Together to preserve the dignity of artists and support Ukrainian culture.

We thank the authors of these texts for having the courage to talk about their personal experience of war and we stand with them!

Details of the programme of performances in the campaign will soon be available on www.uniter.ro, on the websites of partner theatres and on www.mystage.ro.

Thank you all for your enthusiasm and generosity!
