Faustus cannot resist his thirst for knowledge, for magic and the desire to rule powerful magical forces. But this has a price: the time appointed by destiny is arriving quickly and there is no way back for his condemned soul. The journey of the drifter Faustus is tempted by fantasy, insanity and evil.

Director Mihai Maniutiu takes a contemporary view of the drama, approaching it through the doubts and problems of the modern age. He draws a parallel between the thirst for knowledge of the Renaissance man and the attempts by modern man to push limits and break boundaries. Visions of insanity are combined with those of apocalypse, the ubiquity of evil and a great force of passion and sexuality alternates with (a perhaps not yet aborted) hope.

The performance is not recommended for viewers under 16 years of age.

Opening date: March 28, 2003.
Running time: 1 hour and 30 minutes.
