ANDRÁS VISKY: PORNO – THE STORY OF MY WIFE – THE PREMIERE OF A CO-PRODUCTION OF THE HUNGARIAN THEATRE OF CLUJ AND THE GYULA CASTLE THEATRE

The premiere of the documentary-play entitled Porno – The Story of My Wife by András Visky will take place at the Studio Hall of the Gyula Castle Theatre on Saturday, August 1, at 8.30 pm. The staging of the work is carried out as a co-production between the Hungarian Theatre of Cluj and the Gyula Castle Theatre. The play – featured in the Erdélyi Hét [Transylvanian Week] event series – was directed by Árpád Árkosi.

“The play was born out of the union of two true story lines, inspired by the life events of people very close to the author. They both evoke 1980s Romania, which sets the background for the increasingly fictional threads to evolve, due not only to the times that have since become history, but also due to the sometimes distinctly bloody virtuality that characterized the end of the 1980s. The names, if they exist at all, are not those of real people, and any similarities they bear to real people are not the result of chance, but of the inevitability of common corporeal experiences”- says András Visky about the drama.

Cast: Éva Imre, Ferenc Sinkó and András Visky. The creative team includes director Árpád Árkosi; set and costume designer Gyopár Bocskai; composer Tibor Cári; stage movement coach Ferenc Sinkó and assistant director Alpár Fogarasi.

The Cluj premiere of Porno – The Story of My Wife will take place in the autumn, provided the circumstances surrounding the current health crisis will allow it.
