THE BLIND RETURNS TO THE STAGE OF THE HUNGARIAN THEATRE OF CLUJ

Directed by Botond Nagy, the production of The Blind - which premiered in 2017 at the Hungarian Theatre of Cluj –, will return to the stage in February, 2019. The performance based on texts by Maurice Maeterlinck, Samuel Beckett, Tibor Hajas, János Pilinszky and Pier Paolo Pasolini, will take place on Friday, February 15, at 8 pm, in the studio space built upon the Main Stage. Subsequent performances of The Blind are scheduled also for February 27 and March 13.

According to the director, Maeterlinck’s text has been used as a starting point during the creation of the production, in order to gain a gateway into the discovery of a wider universe. The main question upon which the harmonious and joyous team effort was built during the rehearsal process was the relationship one has with death, a topic that is also featured in Maeterlinck’s drama The Blind. As stated by Botond Nagy, the production is a techno-poetic installation that includes a sincerely personal facet; an installation that views the musical and visual elements of the performance as characters in their own right.

According to the creators, the production does not promise anything, nor does it offer any explanations. It does not want to appear anything more than it is: a collage. A collage about the times we were born into, in which we get to be born into for millennia, about our nonsense, and how we seem to speak to each other and not with each other, about our longing for attention and love.
