ANGELS IN AMERICA RETURNS TO THE FALL SCHEDULE OF THE HUNGARIAN THEATRE OF CLUJ

The Hungarian Theatre of Cluj’s production of Tony Kushner's Angels in America I-II returns to the 2018/19 season’s schedule. The two-part performance will take place in the Studio Hall on October 20 and 21, at 6 pm.

The production directed by Victor Ioan Frunză has been invited to the National Theatre Festival in Bucharest, the most important theatrical encounter in Romania. The festival audience in Bucharest will be able to enjoy the performance of the live broadcast from the Hungarian Theatre of Cluj’s Studio Hall. The special theatrical event will take place at 7 pm both on October 27 and 28. Tickets can be purchased at the theatre’s ticket office and online at www.biletmaster.ro.

The multi-threaded narrative focuses on a homosexual couple living in New York, on the outskirts of contemporary society. All the characters of the play belong to a minority group (gays, Jews, Mormons), the play focusing rather on their humanity than their differences. The production had been nominated by The Romanian Association of Theatre Artists (UNITER) in four separate categories, with Zsolt Bogdán winning Best Actor in a Supporting Role for his portrayal of Roy Cohn.

Cast: Zsolt Bogdán, Péter Árus, Éva Imre, Ervin Szűcs, Balázs Bodolai, Emőke Kató, Szabolcs Balla and Tekla Tordai. Set and costume designer: Adriana Grand.
