DABYEOT - YOUTH WIND ORCHESTRA CONCERT IN CLUJ

As part of their European tour, the Dabyeot – Youth Wind Orchestra - made up of 80 musicians, will hold a concert in Cluj on July 23, at 7 pm, in the Auditorium Maximum Hall at 3 Mihail Kogălniceanu Street. Led by conductor Gye Jun Jeon, the Jeju Gayageum Ensemble and soloist Shin Eun Sook (playing the daegeum – a traditional wind instrument) will present the exotic nature of Korean musical folklore. Additionally, with the help of soprano Soyung Yu, the audience will be able to enjoy learning about the remarkable abilities of the orchestra through their repertoire made up of lyrical and symphonic music, but also pieces from musicals and popular film soundtracks.

Since 2005, the Dabyeot - Youth Wind Orchestra has participated in numerous South Korean festivals, showcasing memorable performances at Jeju Arts Center and at the Cheonjeyeon Waterfalls, at the JIWEF Festival (2009), The Watermill Center, Austria Vienna Film Festival Celebration, “Czech Stonava Local Festival Celebration”, “Bulgarian Lazarpark Orchestra Joint Concert” and since 2012, they have also performed in Romania (in Timişoara, Craiova and Bucharest). In 2015, the Korean orchestra had been invited to play on the stage of the Romanian Athenaeum, greatly impressing both the audience and the critics with their performance.

Dabyeot is the traditional Korean name of the Hamyang Gun, meaning “a place where the hot sun always shines”.

The organizers of the event are: the Dabyeot Cultural Center, Gyongnam Province, Ham Yang Gun County and CMS Vienna.
Partners: Transilvania State Philharmonic, Babeş-Bolyai University and the Art Napocensis Cultural Association.
The event is supported by: the Hungarian Opera of Cluj-Napoca, the Hungarian Theatre of Cluj, as well as the Sigismund Toduţă Music College.
