DECEMBER SHOWCASE AT THE HUNGARIAN THEATRE OF CLUJ

The Hungarian Theatre of Cluj will organize a Showcase between December 6 and 10, an event that takes place every two years. This year’s edition also coincides with the celebration of the 225th anniversary of Hungarian language theatre in the city of Cluj.

The program of the Showcase includes the most important performances of recent seasons, the works of those directors that defined the artistic development of the company as well as its theatrical representation. The Showcase will begin on December 6 with Uncle Vanya, a production directed by Andrei Şerban that has already been played more than 140 times. The event will continue with a play presented in 2013, entitled Victor, or Power to the Children, directed by Silviu Purcărete, followed by Celebration, a production staged in 2011 under Robert Woodruff's direction, and three performances from the 2016/2017 season, namely Rosmersholm (director: Andriy Zholdak), The Lower Depths (director: Yuri Kordonsky) and The Blind (director: Botond Nagy).

In addition to the theatrical performances presented within the Showcase, the event will feature also two book launches held at the 2nd floor Foyer of the Hungarian Theatre of Cluj. On Thursday, December 7, at 6 pm, a volume highlighting the most important international tours of the company will be launched, followed by a second event held on Saturday, December 9, at 6 pm, when Mihaela Marin's volume concerning the theatrical world of Gábor Tompa will be presented. An additional literary event will take place on Friday, December 8, at 4.30 pm, when audiences are awaited to meet Attila József Prize winner poet, Csaba Báthori.

Tickets for the performances featured in the Showcase can be purchased at the theatre's ticket office and at www.biletmaster.ro. For Csaba Báthori's poetry event and the performance of Rosmersholm, which will both occur on the same day, we offer a combined discount ticket price of 25 lei.
