András Csiky at 87

Born in Odorheiu Secuiesc on August 25, 1930, András Csiky graduated his university studies in 1953 at the István Szentgyörgyi Theatre Institute. He was the founding member and then the head of the Hungarian ensemble of the Baia Mare State Theatre. The company, which moved to Satu Mare in 1956, initially functioned under the name of the Hungarian State Theatre of Satu Mare (later the Northern Theatre), the member of which he was. Between 1960 and 1969 he became also the director of the institution. He has been a member of the Hungarian Theatre of Cluj since 1977, later becoming an honorary member of the institution. After 1990, he was one of the people who relaunched the Hungarian language acting classes in Cluj, working also for multiple years as an instructor within the Babeş-Bolyai University’s Theatre Department. Among the most memorable theatrical roles he approached, we encounter countless great roles from the universal dramatic literature, while we can also enjoy his numerous roles in Romanian and Hungarian language films as well.

We wish him a Very Happy Birthday and Good Health!
